Automated Sample Cleanup for Trace Analysis
The Powerprep Multi-Column Sample Cleanup system automates error prone, tedious, manual sample cleanup and fractionation steps in the laboratory. It replaces older manual techniques by automating the sample loading, washing, elution, fractionation and evaporation steps of the process. It increases laboratory throughput by performing sample cleanup and fractionation in hours instead of days.
Rapid Sample Processing
The Power-Prep system, that automates the entire manual sample cleanup process, processes samples in hours versus days.
Cost Effective and Reliable Analysis
The system performs the entire column chromatography, automatically and unattended, and delivers consistent, reproducible recoveries for all analytes. Unattended operation of the system saves labor and time, reducing glassware and solvents. It automates difficult manual sample cleanup procedures specifically for the trace analysis of Dioxins, BFRs, PCBs, Pesticides and PAHs.
High Recovery of all Analytes
FMS columns are certified and guaranteed for the cleanup of samples for the trace analysis of Dioxins, PAHs, PBDEs, and PCBs producing the highest recoveries for all analytes of interest.
Modular, Expandable, and Affordable
The PowerPrep system is modular and can be expanded from 1 to 6 samples. Both expansion and module replacement are done via FMS’s quick connect modules reducing system down time, increasing laboratory throughput and eliminating cross contamination from sample to sample.
Disposable Columns
The PowerPrep System uses proprietary FMS columns made from teflon and contain packings such as multi-silica, acidic silica, basic silica, neutral silica, alumina, carbon and florisil. FMS columns are tested for purity and performance. Prior to shipment they are certified and guaranteed.

An Overview of Multi-Column Sample Cleanup
Sample cleanup is a very important step because methods often don’t respond to the analyte in its in-situ form, or the results can be distorted by interfering species. Column cleanup is used to eliminate interferences that can occur in the sample matrices. Multi-column cleanup procedures use multiple column chemistries to remove interferences and fractionate analytes of interest from complicated sample matrices.
PowerPrep Multi-Column Sample Cleanup System
The PowerPrep™ Multi-Column Sample Cleanup System is the only automated sample processing system of its kind available today. It is an automated liquid chromatography system that performs simultaneous sample processing unattended. The total sample preparation process – sample loading, washing, elution, fraction collection and concentration — is performed automatically. The PowerPrep Multi-Column Sample Cleanup System is designed specifically to replace the difficult, error prone, labor intensive manual processes involved in sample cleanup for trace analysis. For the trace analysis of Persistent Organic Pollutants in all sample matrices, the PowerPrep Multi-Column Sample Cleanup System performs sample cleanup in a matter of hours, not days. Its modular design allows easy maintenance and expansion. The Sample Processing Module is designed for Multi-column sample cleanup and fractionation and the patented pump ensures precise solvent delivery to achieve reproducible results. The Multi-Column Sample Processing Module can be easily swapped out to perform single column sample cleanup chemistries which allows your lab to use the PowerPrep System for automating other sample prep processes. Samples are cleaned up and directly fractionated to the SuperVap Concentrator for unattended transfer and concentration directly to a vial.
The SuperVap Concentrator is a dry, waterless, programmable system that can preheat as well as ramp up to final temperature. When the concentrator senses that the extracts are being delivered to each vessel it automatically starts the nitrogen blow down. It then shuts off the nitrogen blow down when each extract has achieved final volume
